Protecting Your Skin in the Summer

Protecting Your Skin in the Summer

Dry skin is a problem for tens of millions of Americans and it seems just about everything under the sun and even the sun itself can cause one of our bodies most important organs to dry out and if we aren't careful become cracked and infected. Dry skin occurs most often in the winter but if you aren't careful the summer can wreak havoc on your skin as well and no one wants to dry skin during bikini season.

The biggest threat to your skin in summer is fairly obvious. If you stay in the son too long and get burned, all of the moisture will be stripped from your skin and you will be left dry and possibly burned. Considering the other risk such as skin cancer associated with sun burns, this is the most important dry skin causing issue to avoid.

Another summer threat is swimming, which seems a bit strange considering you are surrounded by water, but the chlorine in many pools is actually pretty bad for your skin. Since its hard to tell people not to swim in the summer, many new dry skin remedies for swimmers have come out such as Swimmers Skin lotion.

One of the simplest home remedies for dry skin may be to just turn up your air conditioner a bit. Most people know that heaters dry out our skin in the winter but what most people fail to realize is the air conditioner is also pulling moisture out of the air. So either turn that knob up a bit or buy a couple of humidifiers for your house.

Some of the same tricks for winter work in the summer as well and some should even be easier such as taking cooler showers. Also be sure to pat dry afterwards and follow up with a good moisturizing cream and you should be looking great in that bikini.
