Factors that will affect the rate of pay include the individual's experience on the job or field, educational background and the particular employer. Those holding a certificate or diploma and those with managerial duties can generally expect to earn more than someone just beginning in an entry level position. One's title or specific job classification may also play a critical role in the amount of pay received. As of May 2008, the median income for those referred to as medical records technician was approximately 30,610. However, some earned over 50,000 in the same year. As with other types of careers, one may also be able to advance from his or her current position, which can also increase the salarly range.
