Weird Animals From Around The World

Some animals partake in certain behaviors that defy logic or explanation, or may have a physical appearance that seems outrageous. This is because like most living organisms on this planet, animals have adapted to specific environments in a way that allows them to survive and reproduce in the most effective way possible. However, specific environmental niches where limited food resources are available to a particular species, and adverse climatic conditions are the norm can sometimes cause unique evolutionary adaptations to occur in the DNA of certain animals.

Weird animals of this sort are particularly common within closed-off geographic areas such as islands or in places with extreme weather conditions. For example, on the Galapagos islands there exists a certain species of Iguana that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. These rare animals are an aquatic lizard species that have adapted to life in a geographic area that is completely shut off from major land masses. For this reason, they may have adapted to aquatic life as opposed to most iguana types that live on land, as food sources are much richer within the waters off the coast of the Galapagos islands than those found on the land areas.

Another species that could easily be included within the category of weird animals would be the Emperor Penguin. These birds have thrived within exceptionally fierce weather conditions that could kill an unprotected human within a matter of minutes. As in the above-mentioned scenario, food sources in Antarctica are mostly limited to underneath the water, and for this reason, emperor penguins may have exchanged their ability to fly for an agile aquatic skill at some point within their evolutionary history. This has provided them with the ability to thrive off of waters rich in fish and live in a place where life seems unlikely to occur.
