Must-Have Cashmere Socks
Cashmere is one of a kind which is why cashmere socks are a must-have. Cashmere socks are regarded as the most expensive among the many types of garments for socks because of the comfort and luxury it provides.
The reason why cashmere is expensive is not only because of the luxury and the comfort but because they are quite difficult to manufacture in mass. There is much demand for cashmere with the growing population and all. Cashmere is the only garment that will still keep people warm but they are not as abundant as it should be.
Cashmere wool came from the mountains of the Himalayas. More accurately that is the place where they originate. Since they are considered as cashmere wool and woolen fibers can only come from animals, cashmere came from an animal too and in this case a goat. It is the Kashmir goats of the Himalayas that we owe our cashmere socks to.
To this day, Kashmir goats are actually abundant in Mongolia, China, Tibet and India and they are breeding in considerable number. The mountains and cold grassy plains are the only habitats that goats are used to and are living in normal ways. So while the raw material of cashmere is harvested and woven in Asia it would have to be transported to European countries and the US for it to be used by winter experiencing people. The cost of transporting such items is high. This in turn would reflect on the price of cashmere.
Kashmir goats can also produce so much fur. When they are growing and as their fur has come to maturity to a point of cessation of growth they are harvested or literally removed from the goat. Their natural response is to grow another and hence another cycle of fur growth begins. However, it would roughly take four to five years for one goat to produce one particular article of clothing.
