8 Great Juicing Tips

Which ever fruits or vegetables you choose to use there are 8 tips and tricks you can employ to make healthier fresh juices. So lets take a look!

1) Don't keep your juice extractor in a cupboard or pantry or somewhere else that is out of view. If you leave it on your kitchen counter or somewhere that is in constant view then you are likely to make more fresh juices. If you don't have to go through that one extra step of getting the juice extractor out of its hiding place and setting it up, you will probably juice more because it is more convenient to do so. Buying a juice extractor that looks good and gives that extra pizazz to your kitchen will help with this.

2) Give your fruits and vegetables a real good scrub before juicing but don't let them sit and soak in water for too long. This can cause nutrients to leak out in the water.

3) Many antioxidants and other nutrients live right under the peel. The white membranes of an orange that are found between the peel and the pulp, for example, are loaded with antioxidants called bio-flavonoids. So if we peel fruits and vegetables we should try to do so as lightly as possible. With some fruits, like apples, you can actually juice the whole peel and the juice still tastes great. The peel of citrus fruits on the other hand taste nasty when juiced.

4) Drink your freshly made juice as soon as possible after juicing. Once fruits and vegetables are broken down into juice, they are no longer protected from oxidation by their skins. So the longer you leave the juice sitting the more antioxidants that will die off. If you need to store your juice, use an air tight container. You can also use a little device that will suck out the excess air in containers also. This is a great thing for preserving a juice for as long as possible.

5) A lot vegetables can taste less then great when juiced and some, like cabbage for instance, will be very strong. To combat this you can mix vegetable juice with a few apples to dilute and add sweetness and palate-ability. Diluting with mineral water or filtered water also works.

6) Go organic as much as you can. This will reduce your intake of harmful pesticides.

7) Wash you juice extractor quickly after juicing. The longer you leave it the more difficult the clean up will be. The left over pulp will harden and become harder to remove.

8) Experiment and have fun making your own juicer recipes. This way you will find out your personal favorite tastes and combination!
