Wood or Metal – Which is a Better Futon Frame?
Let’s face it. Aside from choosing the right futon mattresses, the mattress that will ensure a good night’s sleep, the frame is an integral part of the futon furniture. After all, the frame, whether it is a bi-fold or a tri-fold one, is the one responsible for folding the futon mattress, which, is one of its main and distinct features. This folding process, allows it to be used both as a bed and as a couch, making it space-savvy, compared to other types of furniture, and allows people to save money, considering that they don’t have to buy both a couch and a bed. However, a frame can either be made out of two different materials, and that’s wood or metal. The question arises, which of them is better?
For one thing, ones made out of wood, such as wood futon bunk bed, generally do not last long, unless, they are made out of hardwood. But, hardwood can be quite expensive, and they can be quite hard to find, considering the various laws that protect the cutting down of trees that produce hardwood, since they are rather extinct. However, they do provide a more traditional look to a home, house or a room. Their designs, are mostly traditional, and would easily blend with other traditional furniture. On the other hand, metal futon bunk beds, for example, have a more modern and contemporary design. They also are cheaper, even costing half of the price of wooden frames, but, their main enemy is rust and corrosion.
All in all, choosing the right frame can be quite hard. Both have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. But, keep in mind, both are good frames, and not a single one is better. It depends upon the person that will use it, and the room that they will be used in.
