Aluminium Sliding Door Guide
In interior design it is imperative to allow the flow of movement to be smooth and easy from one room to another. This is equally important whether it is for home, a commercial building or office. An aluminium sliding door can easily provide this convenience but still provide privacy to the adjoining room. More importantly it only needs a small space unlike the requirement for traditional swinging doors.
This door system consists of the following:
- Aluminium framing
- Door panels usually incorporating glass or solid
- Rollers and sliding track system
- Door handle or flush handle with lock
- Weather stripping if the door are for external use
Depending on the room in which they are installed, the door panels may be made from plastic, glass or metal. Glass panelled doors are in mass production and more readily available. The glass can be clear, frosted or etched. The frosting or etching design in the glass may be personalized. Designed glass is often used in offices, patios and also as shower doors.
Normally the glass sliding doors consists of two panels. Some manufacturers supply the door set with one fixed panel and another which slides to the rear for opening. With this design only one panel is fitted with rollers running on a single track. Others have both panels sliding therefore requiring rollers on both doors running on double tracks allowing both door panels to slide side to side. If the structural opening is very large, three or more door may be required running on triple track system
Good and reliable locks may be provided and security systems can be installed to make glass sliding doors less vulnerable. However if security is an issue, is advisable not to use these doors in rooms that lead outdoors, especially in homes that do not have secure boundary fences.
