Don’t Do This With Your Interior Window Shutters

Shutters are like the heavyweights of the window décor division. Shutters are tough, sturdy and very strong. It can handle a lot of pressure both from the environment and man-made forces. It is also capable of functioning in the extremes of weather and are able to the job well. With this said, people may tend to forget that window shutters are also fragile and are prone to being damaged or even destroyed if it is used in a way that would stretch the limits of what the shutters may do.

Here are the things that you should not do, unless you want to run the risk of ruining your shutters forever. You should not hang things in between the louvers. Louvers are made to protect the home from infiltration by sunlight and other elements. They are not designed to carry heavy weight or anything for that matter. Hence, you should not hang hangers, towels, ropes, clothes, or whatever things you might be tempted to hang on the louvers. It may damage the surface of the louver and it may even cause it to collapse and give in if the object that you placed on it was too heavy.

Another thing that you should not do is to add stuff to the louvers and in between the panels. Although you may feel the urge to personalize your louver, adding something that is unnecessary and something foreign to the integral design without consulting the manual first may lead to some dire consequences such as the paint job or the coating of the louvers might be comprised and they may not be able to close properly or completely if the spaces in between the panels are meddled with. These should be avoided in order to keep the integrity of your interior window shutters intact.

There are some things you can do and other things which you must avoid at all costs. Failure to do so would probably merit in one destroyed window shutter that needs to be replaced as soon as possible or you run the risk of having all sorts of things flying through the window.
