Redecorating the Easy Way

It's happened to all of us at one point or another.  We wake up one day, walk in to a room in our house or apartment, and suddenly realize that it's way past time to redecorate.  The paisley wallpaper, striped love seat, and teal curtains definitely have to make way for something that doesn't scream "outdated!"

Redecorating can be a lengthy and expensive process, and if you're not careful, you can end up spending an arm and a leg.  As you begin redesigning your new space, you'll want to keep a close eye on your expenditures.  It may sound obvious, but it's easy to overspend.

There is no right or wrong way to start your redecoration process.  Many people find spending time at a home furnishing store to be a great way to begin gathering ideas.  You may find a piece of furniture that you love, which can become the centerpiece of your new room.  Or, you may just find a collection of decorative pieces that you'd like to incorporate into your new room, or even just a general feeling you'd like to create in your space.

Another great option to help find redecorating ideas is to visit model  homes in developing subdivisions near you.  These were far easier to find during the real estate boom a few years ago, but there are still show homes around to tour.  They're professionally decorated and usually very well done, all the way down to designer door knobs and window valances, so this is a great place to take your camera to photograph ideas that you would like to incorporate into your redecorating project.

Once you've found your inspiration - be it a color scheme, a particular piece of furniture, a motif, or a functional purpose the room is going to have - it's easy to begin assembling the rest of your redecorating project.  Just choose items that inspire you, and that fit your budget.
