Removing Black Mold and Preventing it From Growing Back

Black mold removal does not need to be difficult.  If the problem isn't a large one, then you can clean up the mold yourself with a specialize mold and mildew cleaner from the store.  If your mold problem is larger, then you can call in a professional for removing black mold from your house.  Whichever route you take, it is important to not only ensure the mold is gone, but that you also take the necessary steps to prevent the mold from coming back again.

If you clean up the mold yourself, make sure that you take the proper steps to ensure your own safety.  A surgical mask is a must have so that you are not exposed to the black mold if it becomes airborne while cleaning.  Eye protection, as well as old, long-sleeved clothes will help to protect your eyes and your skin from mold exposure.

The best thing that you can do to ensure that you are not further exposed to black mold is to take the necessary steps to ensure that the black mold does not come back.  Mold loves to live in a moist environment.  If there is a leak somewhere, make sure that the water does not accumulate on your surfaces.  One common place for mold is the bathroom because of the excess moisture when you take a shower.  Always leave a window open and a fan running during the shower and up o 20 minutes after.

Another common area for mold to thrive is in dark areas.  If you have window blinds and curtains, make sure that you open them at least once every few days.  This allows proper ventilation and enough light to stop moisture from accumulating, and to stop black mold from growing.

While clean up is important, taking the steps to stop the black mold from coming back is even more important.
