Having a security system isn't enough. You also need to make sure that all of the equipment or electronic gadgets that are part of your home security system are functioning well. If all your devices are in excellent working condition, you'll be better assured of your safety and security.

So, how do you make your system more secure? In order to guarantee a secure system, make sure that all of your gadgets are functioning well. In other words, keep your security devices well-maintained. If, for example, you have set up alarms or sensors as part of your system, test these out. Try to open doors and windows from outside and observe if the gadgets that are guarding these entry points do produce alarm signals when triggered. Also, check if these devices are able to send signals to the main control panel about the disturbance. So, do regular maintenance checks of your magnetic sensors, glass break sensors, motion detectors, infrared detectors, or surveillance cameras, to name a few. Weather disturbances may also undermine your system, especially the home security devices that are placed outside of homes. This is why if you have external security gadgets, check all of these after extreme weather conditions due to heavy rainfall or snow, storms or thunder storms. Though hard-wired gadgets are less susceptible to such disturbances, it's still best to check if all your components are still working well. You can also make your system more secure by adding other simple tools that can heighten the security of usual entry points. For doors, you can install door chains and peepholes, apart from sensors. You should also make sure that remote doors, such as gates and yard doors are secured with dead bolt locks too.

There are many practical ways to make your space more secure. By taking care of your home security system, you'll be better protected.
