Two Different Ways to Install Driveway Lights
If you have a driveway, regardless of its size, shape, or location, you can benefit from installing some driveway lights. Lights will let other cars see when you’re backing in and out, give the driveway a defined space, and even make your house more welcoming. You have several different ways you can add lights to your driveway, but most homes will benefit from one of two distinct ways.
If your home has a shorter driveway or the area around the driveway is already well-lit, the easiest and most effective way to add light to it is by installing a lantern attached to a pole at the end of the driveway. The pole should be several feet high so that the lantern will cast a wide circle of light. This will make the entrance of your driveway more highly visible. This in turn, makes it easier for other cars to see you backing in or out of your driveway, and makes the actual backing in and out easier on your part. It also gives your home a little bit of a more homey touch.
If your driveway is longer, you can consider installing small solar driveway lights up and down the sides of it. These should be small post or marker lights that give off a small amount of light. The aim of the lights isn’t to provide a lot of functional light, but to instead outline the edges of your driveway and to add accent lighting to your whole property. Make sure to install the lights on alternating sides though, so that your driveway doesn’t end up looking like an airport runway!
There are many ways to install driveway lighting, but the two best ways are either by using small lights down the edges of your driveway or by installing a pole light at the end of your driveway. What type of installation you choose will depend on the size and shape of your driveway.
