Tennis elbow home treatment

The tennis elbow, also called the lateral epicondylitis is one of the most common injuries that people suffer although they may not tell that it is. This condition arises on the dominant hand as a result of overuse, strain and injury of the tendon of the tissues that connect the arm muscles to the bone. It is called the tennis elbow injury because it is prevalent among tennis players but it can affect any one who undertakes activities that include repetitive turning, gripping, bending and extending the wrist backwards. There are several effective remedies to counter the pain and heal the damaged cells including medicinal, therapy and home cures for tennis elbow.

When you have the tennis elbow, the outer part of the affected arm will be tender to touch and painful at the same time. It will also be difficult to move the elbow and the arm in general because of the pain. This is a condition that can affect anyone and often appear gradually, starting with tiredness and eventually turning to numbness and pain if action is not taken in good time to control it. The pain, inflammation and the swelling is as a result of tiny tearing of the tendons and the muscle coverings.

Treating tennis elbow may not be so easy because it involves the repairing of the damaged tissues and alleviating the pain caused by them. If addressed in good time, resting the affected arm using a tennis elbow brace may be sufficient to let the elbow heal but in most cases, an anti-inflammatory medicine or ice may be used to quicken the process. Alternatively, physical therapy may be applied to restore damaged tissues and speedup healing. It is important to know that the healing process may take time and the discomfort and pain will persevere through this time which may last as long as three to six weeks.
